Major logistics and distribution hubs continue to expand across the UK, and supporting infrastructure that is resilient and environmentally responsible has become increasingly important. At Plot 1, Axis Works, Avonmouth, SPEL Products supplied one SPEL PuraFluent® Sewage Treatment Plant System comprising of two tanks (PF300/HVY) to support the site’s up to 300 population equivalent (PE) wastewater treatment requirements.
Located within the wider Axis Works development at Avonmouth, Bristol, the project forms part of a significant industrial and logistics hub designed to meet the growing demands of modern distribution and fulfilment operations.
Delivering Reliable Wastewater Treatment
Large-scale commercial and logistics facilities such as this generate substantial wastewater flows and require dependable treatment infrastructure that can operate efficiently long-term. For projects of this nature, sewage treatment solutions must balance environmental compliance, operational reliability, and whole-life performance. To support these objectives, SPEL supplied two PF300/HVY PuraFluent® tanks.
Why PuraFluent?
The SPEL PuraFluent range has been developed to provide effective wastewater treatment for a wide variety of commercial, industrial and residential applications. Available as both standard and bespoke solutions, PuraFluent systems can be tailored to the specific requirements of each site while achieving high levels of treatment performance.
Key benefits of the PuraFluent range include:
High Treatment Performance
PuraFluent systems utilise proven biological treatment processes designed to achieve high-quality treated effluent and support compliance with demanding discharge requirements. SPEL’s engineering approach enables systems to be configured according to site-specific loading and treatment objectives.
Long-Term Durability
Manufactured from high-quality GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic), our PuraFluent tanks offer excellent resistance to corrosion and environmental degradation. The robust construction helps ensure a long operational lifespan, even in challenging conditions.
Reduced Maintenance Requirements
The smooth internal finish of GRP tanks helps minimise sludge build-up, facilitating easier maintenance over the life of the asset and supporting efficient operation and lower whole-life costs.
Flexible Design Solutions
Whether serving a single development or a large commercial facility, PuraFluent systems can be adapted using a range of treatment technologies to meet project-specific requirements, available loading capacities and discharge standards.
Quality-Assured Manufacturing
PuraFluent systems are manufactured within SPEL’s quality-assured processes and are supported by our 25-year tank shell warranty, with a design life expectancy exceeding 50 years. The range is backed by ISO 9001 quality assurance and SPEL’s commitment to environmental improvement through ISO 14001. Read more about our quality tank shell construction.
Supporting Sustainable Development
As industrial and logistics developments continue to grow in scale and complexity, effective wastewater treatment infrastructure remains a critical yet often overlooked component of sustainable site design.
The supply of the two PF300/HVY PuraFluent tanks to Plot 1 at Axis Works demonstrates the importance of investing in long-term environmental infrastructure alongside the buildings and operations they support. By providing reliable wastewater treatment capacity, the PuraFluent system will help support the ongoing operation of the site while contributing to responsible water management and environmental protection.
For developers and contractors, selecting proven wastewater treatment solutions is an essential part of creating facilities that are built for both operational performance and future sustainability.
