Pretreatment of wastewater is part of the process of a waste water treatment works (WWTW) from a small private treatment plant through to a large municipal WWTW smaller treatment plants have the primary treatment tank built into the system but larger units have this as a separate tank to increase capacity and for ease of maintenance.

SPEL are ideally placed to supply an comprehensive range of sizes to provide solutions for treatment plant manufacturers, contractors and water companies. Whilst the range starts at 1000L capacity, most systems of this size require larger primary settlement tanks and use the SPEL 400, 500 and 600 models (2.6m, 3.5m, & 4m dia.).

Adoptable foul pump systems normally require two key components, the main Wet Well and offline 24 hour storage. Most water companies require the Wet Well to be constructed from concrete but the offline storage can be GRP, making for a cost effective and robust storage facility.

Again SPEL’s comprehensive range assists designers and contractors with options to deliver the storage required in the most efficient manor. Tanks can be interconnected as part of SPEL’s bespoke manufacturing capacity, which further enhances the design flexibility. Accessories such as Bauer connectors and suction pipes can also be included to provide safe and efficient maintenance.

SPEL Packaged Pumping Stations are available in both Wet Well (V Series) and combined systems where the adopting authority will accept GRP in place of concrete. GRP tanks have a much higher resilience to hydrogen sulphide (H2S).
