Pollution Containment
Pollution Containment
For many years oil has been the major pollution risk and on specific sites this is still the case, such as Airports, Diesel Rail Terminals Fuel Stations and Transformer Platforms.
Unlike oil, glycols and food products like milk and coffee are difficult to capture, these water soluble pollutants require a more technical system to safeguard sites that handle these substances.
SPEL systems have been protecting the environment since 1975, this section outlines the systems that have been developed and delivered, and industry sectors that rely on SPEL’s many years of experience.
Airports (Glycol/De-icer and Washdown)
SPEL containment systems delivered to London Luton Airport, London Heathrow Airport, Edinburgh Airport, and MOD Airports. (SPEL Penstock/Valve Chambers, Monitoring Chambers, and Containment Tanks)
Food Processing
Multiple food processing facilities including dairy, meat, cereal, and alcohol. (Pumps/Mixer Systems, Containment Tanks, Monitoring Chambers, and 3 Stage Separators)
Transformer Platforms
Transformers hold large volumes of oil, which must be contained. Applications include grid sub stations, data centres, power stations, and wind farms. (SPEL DrainGuard and Oil Separators)
Fire Fighting Foam and Training Grounds
SPEL has delivered systems for capturing foam and other pollutants from fire training grounds to Newcastle Airport, London Gatwick Airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, MOD Airports and regional fire training facilities. (SPEL Econoskim, Penstock/Valve Chambers, Monitoring Chambers, and Containment Tanks)
Other Spill Risks
From highways to waste sites, and from manufacturing to chemical storage, SPEL Pollution Control Systems are installed in most sectors where fluid spill risk presents a threat to the environment. SPEL systems have been installed at: Queen Elizabeth II Bridge Dartford, Rolls Royce Engine Facility Derby, Jaguar Land Rover Wolverhampton, Javelin Park EfW Power Station Gloucestershire and other waste facilities.
