Located just 12 minutes from the Port of Felixstowe and less than 30 miles from Sizewell C, this 1 million sq. ft. development is perfectly located for it’s leaseholder, the Sizewell C Company! Having this huge storage capacity in a location local to the new Sizewell C Nuclear Reactor will allow for efficient storage and transportation of essential materials and equipment for the construction of the new reactor.
The strict regulations set by the Suffolk Council, required a high SuDS Pollution Hazard Index to be achieved. This required removing over 80% of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Metals and over 90% of Hydrocarbons.
This required a SuDS Treatment Train, which thanks to SPEL’s large range of SuDS Treatment Device’s, could be simply achieved with just two devices, the SPEL ESR Bypass, followed by the SPEL Smartceptor vortex separator.
This treatment train utilises the 0.8 (TSS), 0.6 (Metals) and 0.9 (Hydrocarbons) Mitigation Indices of the ESR Bypass range followed by the SPEL Smartceptor downstream. Inline with the SuDS Manual, all downstream treatment devices can only claim 50% of their Mitigation Indices (the upstream device has removed the bulk of pollutants, making the downstream device less effective). Therefore by adding 50% of the SPEL Smartceptors Mitigation Indices to the ESR Bypass Mitigation Indices, resulted in a high risk pollution hazard index as required.
