STACK’s OSL04 campus is located in Holtskogen, east of the city of Oslo, with more than 18MW available at various stages of development. Stack Infrastructures Holtskogen Campus including the already complete OSL04C unit and the two units currently under construction, OSLO4E and OSLO4A are highly efficient data centres powered by 100% certified renewable energy. The completed OSLO4C provides more than 1,800 sqm of IT white space and is certified to ISO Class 8 filtration for fresh air AHU that serve the data halls, together with a unique snow melt system and rainwater reuse for cooling the data systems. The completed unit is also compliant to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, ISO 45001, ISAE 3402/SOC 1 Report, PCI/DSS Compliant, LOS Energy Norway 100% Renewable Energy Guarantee.

This high-tech data centre required a sustainable system to cool the data systems that will be housed inside. Therefore, a rainwater harvesting system was chosen and SPEL were specified to manufacture 6no. SPEL Rainsave rainwater harvesting systems with a 36,400 litre capacity each, totalling almost 220,000 litres of rainwater storage.

The SPEL Tankstor storage tanks were fitted with compression fittings, calming pipework to keep disruption of settled solids to a minimum and an anti-backflow/rodent trap overflow, as well as ladders fitted to the access shafts. SPEL provided the Rainsave Pumping equipment pumping at roughly 60 litres per minute with these special Rainsave pumps that were specified specifically for this project. The pumps were supplied by SPEL with the necessary pump lifting chains, float switches, and hose for the system. On this occasion the treatment equipment for treating the water was supplied by others. SPEL also arranged the delivery of all the equipment to this site near Oslo, Norway, a roughly 1200 mile road and boat journey.

SPEL have now manufactured 12no. SPEL Rainsave systems in total, 6no. for data centre OSL04A and 6no. for OSL04E.

SPEL were also specified and manufactured and delivered 2no. SPEL Puraceptor full retention oil separators – P030/1CSC.

All products were supplied with a tank shell specification suitable for installation within a pea gravel surround, saving time and money over against a concrete installation, especially in the very rocky ground conditions on-site.
