Surface water management is no longer just about moving water, it’s about doing it safely, sustainably, and cost-effectively. With stricter regulations and the growing need for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), engineers require solutions that deliver performance without slowing down construction schedules.
The SPEL StormCheck® Flow Control Chamber is designed to meet these criteria. Built entirely off-site, these plug-and-play flow control systems arrive ready for simple and immediate installation, cutting site time, minimising disruption, and ensuring consistent quality.
What is the SPEL StormCheck® Flow Control Chamber?
Manufactured from filament-wound GRP in a single-piece design, the StormCheck® offers strength, durability, and hydraulic performance in a lightweight ‘plug & play’ system.
Each unit can be fitted with either:
A Vortex Flow Control Device
Ideal for optimising discharge rates while reducing blockage risk.
Fixed Orifice Plate
A simple, robust solution for controlled flow rates. SPEL usually provide a steel cage around the orifice plate to protect the orifice from potential blockages.
Multiple inlet/outlet configurations allow engineers to integrate the chamber into any drainage network, whether for new developments or retrofit upgrades.
Key Benefits for Developers and Contractors
Fully Off-Site Built
Lightweight Design
Simplifies offload and placement without heavy lifting equipment.
No Confined Space Entry
Enhances site safety and minimises health and safety risks.
Customisable
Designed to match exact flow rates, site constraints, and SuDS requirements. Choose from a range of chamber diameters ranging from 1.2m to 4m diameter.
Extra Storage Options
Larger models can provide up to 22,000L gross capacity in a vertical chamber or even larger in a horizontal chamber.
Includes the SPEL 25 Year Tank Shell Warranty
SuDS Compliance Made Easy
SPEL StormCheck® chambers are engineered to meet Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) guidelines, controlling the rate of water entering the public drainage network to reduce flooding risk and protect water quality.
Our technical team works with engineers from design to installation, offering:
- Flow rate calculations based on site-specific rainfall and runoff data.
- Chamber sizing and outlet configuration advice.
- Full CAD drawings for planning approval and construction.
- Integration support with SPEL’s full product range, attenuation tanks, and other drainage components.
