SPEL were very proud to be involved in McDonalds UK’s first net zero restaurant. It is a trial store which will strongly influence future McDonalds restaurants as McDonalds seek to build a blueprint for future restaurants. Very interesting materials were used in the construction of this project to make hit the net zero aim, this included, 100% recycled plastic furniture, carpark kerbing made from recycled plastic bottles, on-site wind turbines and solar panels and even the building insulation was made from British sheep’s wool!
SPEL manufactured one of our SPEL Grease Separators 200 Series (1.2m dia.) with 2,000 litre capacity and supplied it with one of our SPEL GA-1 high level grease alarms. This SPEL Grease Separator is the standard size used on many McDonalds across the country, accompanied with the SPEL GA-1 grease separator alarm which will alert the restaurant that the grease separator needs emptying. A larger grease separator can save a lot of money on expensive maintenance visits which can be around £1000 per visit to empty the grease separator.
Very often specified alongside our grease separators is one of our SPEL ESR Bypass treatment systems from our range of SuDS stormwater treatment devices that will treat the run-off from the carpark, removing Hydrocarbons, Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and particulate metals to a Medium Risk SuDS pollution hazard index.
