- BS EN 858 suggests that a Class 2 separator should be used for washdown areas, prior to discharging to the foul sewer.
- All washdown water must discharge to the foul sewer due to the chemicals used in the washdown process.
When the local petrol station nearby to our Head Quarters on Lancaster Road in Shrewsbury was brought to be converted into a hand car wash facility, two SPEL Silt Traps were required to capture the bulk of the sediment that was washed off cars and vans, before the cleaner water discharged into a SPEL Full Retention Class 2 Separator prior to discharging to the foul sewer.
Two SPEL Silt Traps were used in tandem to better cover the main car washing area and provide larger, more easily accessible silt storage. These two SPEL Silt Traps were supplied in early 2020 as a complete system including both the GRP Silt Trap chamber and the stainless steel Facta B grating and to date are still in perfect functioning condition.
